In the American Film Market deal, Paramount Pictures is closing a $10 million deal for North American, UK and France rights to Book Club. Endeavor Content is brokering the agreement for The June Pictures film being called a First Wives Club style comedy.
The three-minute trailer was shown to buyers on Wednesday and offers quickly followed. The competitive auction passed the eight-figure mark with Paramount winning with Syrintha Studer, Lejo Pet
Starring is Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenburgen, Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, Craig T. Nelson, Richard Dreyfuss, Alicia Silverstone, Tommy Dewey, Katie Aselton, Ed Begley Jr and Wallace Shawn. This will serve as Bill Holderman's first time directing and co-writing the screenplay he wrote alongside Erin Simms.
The film will follow four lifelong friends in their 60s, Keaton, Fonda, Steenburgen, and Bergen who read the scandalous Fifty Shades of Grey in their book club and are forever changed. The project is in post-production with Holderman, Simms, Andrew Duncan, and Alex Saks producing.
